The New Zealand Diploma in Business (Leadership and Management) Level 6 programme of study prepares learners for mid-level management/leadership positions with a strategic perspective within New Zealand business Entitles, or for further studies in the field of business and management

Course statement

The purpose of this qualification is to provide New Zealand business entities with people who have general and specialised business knowledge and skills than can be applied in strategic roles. Graduates will benefit New Zealand business entities by contributing to the achievement of entities’ strategic objectives, through the application of knowledge and skills, in an ethical manner, in a bi- and multi-cultural environment.

In addition, graduates will have specialised knowledge and skills for application in strategic roles in New Zealand business entities, depending on which strand is achieved.

Entry requirements

A candidate for admission to this programme of study shall:

  • Have an English equivalent of IELTS 6.0 academic with no band lessthan 5.5; or equivalent as approved and set out in the NZQA Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules And
  • Have completed at least a Diploma in Business (Level 5); or have at least two years of relevant work experiences, or equivalent

Graduate profile

Graduates of this qualification will be able to :

  • Undertake planning, monitoring, decision-making and evaluating performance within organizations using accounting techniques and information.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in professionalism, ethics, social and cultural responsibility of organizations in New Zealand and the strategies to manage their impact on an organization
  • Successfully manage sophisticated projects within the constraints of capital, time, and other resources.
  • Analyse the issues and challenges for change and develop strategies to facilitate and manage change within organizations
  • Demonstrate leadership within organizations and its role in building an organizations culture for the efficient and effective performance of the organization. Students will also demonstrate knowledge and skills in strategic leadership, stakeholder management and employee engagement.
