The NZCEL is the national recognised English language certificate accepted by all 8 national universities, colleges, and polytechnics. The course includes four modules of listening speaking reading and writing. When students pass all assessments, their credits will be uploaded to the system of NZQA, representing the recognition by NZQA.

Differing from the two-year of validity of IELTS, the NZCEL certificate has permanent validity. If students want to develop further academically, they do not need to worry about the validity.
